Z's Birthday Party

Today Zoe had a birthday party with her friends. She picked the theme. "Pink Z" Everything was either pink or had something to do with Z. I think it turned out well and she had fun.

Jake and Zoe before the party - busy decorating

Everyone made their own bookmark to take home.

Playing Simon says
Zoe was acting as Simon.
She used this as a way to move up opening her presents.
"simon says everyone go upstairs"
"simon says everyone pick up your present" ...
Got to give her credit for ingenuity.

The Ride Home 2010

This year my dad accepted an invitation to attend The Ride Home.
The event was held Sept. 17-18 in Andersonville GA
at the home of the National Prisoners of War Museum.
The event was organized by a biker group "Rolling Thunder"

Part of the ceremony each day was an escort ride through Americus to Andersonville National Historic Site. Each former POW rode with one of the bikers for this escort ride.

This is the biker that my dad rode with for the escort ride.
His name is William W. Horn
He was from the Florida Chapter of Rolling Thunder

This was the gas station owned by Jimmy Carter's brother.
It has been converted to a museum now.
A Bottle Tree
The Bottle tree is a product of black culture- a Kongo derived tradition.
Folk custom said that spirits would enter the bottle becuase of the bright
colors and become trapped.
When the wind blew and shook the tree the spirits would be
heard moaning from inside the bottles
