Day 10 Sept 13 - Lisbon, Portugal

Today we arrived in Lisbon, Portugal. We opted for a walking tour of the city today. We spent time in the Alfama (Lisbon's old Moorish quarter) We visited the 12th-century Se Cathedral and Black Horse Square. We them moved on to Baixa which is the shopping deistrict. We moved on to Rossio Square and the rod the funicular lift to Bairro Alto. We did a lot of walking but it was definately fun.
Here are a few pictures as we arrived.
This bridge is called the 25th of April Bridge. It crosses the Tagus. It was engineered using the same principle used to build the Golden Gate bridge. It allows for cars and trains to cross.
The guy on the left was our Tour Guide for the day

There were several buildings under construction. They can not change the facade so they gut the building and remake the building from the inside. Looks difficult.

The streets in Lisbon. They were definately uneven and you had to watch your step.

This dog was soo cute. He would even bark like he was signing to the music. He would also bark like he was saying thank you if you put money down for him.

The narrowest street in the city. the two building are almost touching after settling from the earthquakes.

It's suppose to be good luck to tough this statue's lottery ticket.
We did touch the lottery ticket so we'll see if it works.
A D Pedro IV

The ceiling inside the Se Cathedral built in the 12th century
I loved all the stained class in the cathedrals.
this is the Eiffel Lift- an elevator that will take you from the lower part of the city to the upper.
The Funicular (and even more grafitti). The funicular is basically a cable car that will take you from the lower city to the upper part of the city. It costs a couple of Euros each way but it is worth it when you look at how steep the hill is. It makes the hills in San Francisco look like nothing.
The view from the top of the Funicular
the view from the top of the mountain.

It was sad to see so much grafitti everywhere.
The first Hard Rock Cafe that I was able to find on this trip! I did make it in to buy a shirt and a guitar pin.
