I think I was expecting the castle to be alot bigger than it was. I suppose this is one of those times when novels and movies don't exactly match with reality.
Somehow I conviced my mom to climp up to the top of the castle with me. It was actually a tough climb. It involed one steep spiral staircase with narrow steps. They did add ropes for handrails to help you from falling.

this is where they want you to lie on your back as they scoot you over the edge to kiss the Blarney Stone.
They had several paths on the grounds of the castle. We wandered around and took some pictures but unfortunately we couldn't spend as long as we wanted to. That's the problem with guided tour I guess.
